APHSA and Families International Discuss Collaborating and Shared Governance

Since rejoining the Families International group of organizations in January, I have challenged our staff to think of ways we, as an interconnected group of organizations, can increase our impact-generating capacity by collaborating widely and partnering deeply.

Due to factors that include the long-term effects of this great recession, I believe that if we come through this time stronger and more impactful, history will show it was due to whether or not we embraced the concept of “shared governance” (or shared leadership/shared power) within our agencies, through our partnerships across disciplines and sectors, and with the millions of people we serve each day. … more

With ACA Upheld, Attention Can Now Turn to Better Health Outcomes and Lower Costs

As historic Supreme Court rulings go, this one was like a roller coaster. There was great anticipation, even confusion—yes CNN, your error had my heart racing for a few minutes—but in the end a grand conclusion.

The Alliance for Children and Families and United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA) are delighted with the decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the Affordable Care Act. It is a great step forward in this country’s journey to achieve a far more efficient and effective health care delivery system and represents our country’s commitment to making sure that no one in America ever wants for access to health care. … more
