New E-Courses to Develop Leaders’ Capacity for Systems Change
The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities is offering three e-courses to help leaders sharpen their capacity for systems change. These courses will be offered during specific timeframes over the course of the next several months and can be taken individually or as a series.
Learn to address adaptive issues and system challenges in a way that helps your staff and stakeholders feel invested, engaged, and a sense of shared ownership. Each e-course will focus on a different generative capacity—emotional, spiritual, and behavioral—which are outlined in the Alliance’s rEvolutionary Leadership model. Delve into the model to develop your skills in emotional intelligence; ability to maintain clarity on mission, vision, and values; and responsiveness to take the actions needed to create change within your organizations and communities. The Alliance is planning to offer an e-course on the cognitive capacity in winter 2017.
Designed for convenience, the e-course format will entail one to two hours of work each week over the course of six weeks and feature a live teleconference session, discussion questions, relevant readings, brief written assignment, and other resources. In addition, each student will receive one hour of executive coaching for each course to reinforce the rEvolutionary capacity.
Lead instructor for the course is Tom Woll, who has significant expertise in leading change leadership efforts within private nonprofit human services organizations. Over the last three years, he has helped to design and implement the Alliance’s ongoing project to help members with primarily residential business models transform their organizations to be more family focused, community based, and results oriented.
He is the facilitator of The Strategic Change Initiative, through which he conducts 400 interviews each year with public and private sector leaders, public officials, practitioners, and families and youth receiving services. This work was inspired by Woll’s role in overseeing the merger of 20 separate, previously competing Catholic Charities agencies into the Catholic Charities Services Corporation.
