About the Alliance for Children and Families

The Alliance for Children and Families is a membership association that provides a variety of services to private nonprofit human service organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Alliance members are organizations dedicated to serving children and families and/or that are focused on economic empowerment.

Motivated by a vision of a healthy society and strong communities for all children and families, the Alliance works to strengthen North America’s nonprofit human services sector and, through advocacy, assure the sector’s continued independence.

The public policy office in Washington, D.C., works with lawmakers, members, and other national organizations to promote legislation that helps Alliance members better serve their constituencies.

The Alliance holds several conferences each year. The Alliance National Conference, held annually in October, is the signature event.

Members of the Alliance work closely with the Alliance’s Severson National Information Center. The Severson Center is a library and knowledge source. Since it was established in 1986, it has been a highly utilized signature service of membership in the Alliance.

The Alliance serves nearly 350 member organizations, representing a significant force in the nonprofit human services sector.

Our MISSION is to fuse intellectual capital with superior membership services in order to strengthen the capacities of North America’s nonprofit child- and family-serving organizations to serve and to advocate for children, families, and communities so that together we may pursue a VISION of a healthy society and strong communities for all children and families.
