On the heels of a multi-month, rigorous due diligence process, both the Alliance Board and the Council on Accreditation (COA) Board voted unanimously to proceed to a final merger agreement. The next step in the merger process requires over 50 percent of Alliance members to vote their consent to proceed with executing the merger by year’s end. If that consent is achieved, the transition to the new organization will begin in 2021 with COA President and CEO Jody Levison-Johnson taking the helm as CEO of the yet to be formally named new organization. Susan Dreyfus will assume a transition role to work with Jody and the team to ensure merger success.
Both boards expressed their appreciation for the rigor of the process which helped outline the two organizations’ commitment to shared values.
“We are very excited about the prospect that the newly formed organization will amplify our collective assets to do more than either of us can do today,” said Alliance Board Chair Molly Greenman, who also is the President and CEO of The Family Partnership in Minneapolis. ”In joining forces with the Council on Accreditation we have the opportunity to achieve even more on behalf of the families we serve, the communities we represent, and the sector as a whole."
Members have access to the Strategic Rationale for the merger and an extensive FAQ that is available in the Alliance Library.
The final merger agreement and all required documents will be completed by Thanksgiving and will be available for member review by Dec. 1. Members are asked to mark calendars for the official vote of consent, which will be done electronically, beginning on Dec. 17 and concluding by Dec. 23.
