The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities recently honored Villa of Hope in Rochester, New York, with a 2019 Alliance Commitments Award for Innovating with Enterprise.

In the process of creating and implementing its outpatient behavioral health clinic, Villa of Hope’s leadership team encountered a great deal of ambiguity, uncertainty, and risk. Through this challenging process, Villa of Hope strengthened its ability to think more innovatively and became more comfortable with taking calculated risks to ensure greater success in a high support, high accountability environment. This also led Villa of Hope to engage in new business lines including shared services agreements with smaller local community-based organizations.

“If we had not practiced this commitment, Villa of Hope would be stuck in a rut of outdated programming in a changing environment,” said Christina Gullo, president/CEO of Villa of Hope. “These new programs are providing us the means to shift away from some residential models of care and respond to the direction our foster care system is taking us—into outpatient and community-based models of care.”

The award is being presented Oct. 17 as part of the 2019 Alliance National Conference, held Oct. 16-18 in Indianapolis. Villa of Hope is located in Rochester, New York, received an Alliance Commitments Award for Innovating with Enterprise.
