The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities will be offering up to six registration scholarships for rising leaders to attend the 2020 Senior Leadership Conference Feb. 22-25 in Savannah, Georgia. Seize this cost-effective opportunity to expose leaders to the Alliance network and provide professional development and mentoring experiences.
All staff at Alliance member organizations who have not previously received a scholarship are eligible.
So, how do you spot a rising leader?
Movement toward Leadership Role
Most conference attendees are executives and directors from community-based organizations. Leaders who are settling into a role at this level could benefit from the additional support and knowledge provided during the conference as well as relationships within the member network that will continue long after.
Responsiveness to Mentorship
Because lasting professional development doesn’t happen over the course of three days, scholarship recipients will attend the conference with a sponsor from their organizations who agrees to mentor them before, during, and after the conference. Think about staff that you would like to have a stronger mentor-mentee relationship with.
Passion for Networking
The conference's relaxed atmosphere and national attendance of more than 225 people will provide rising leaders with an unparalleled opportunity to make new connections and develop relationships within the sector. Look for individuals who will enthusiastically engage with other and leverage relationships into new solutions.
Rising leaders are intent on innovating and eager to apply new knowledge to improve their work. In the sector’s new reality of great uncertainty and rapid change, leaders at all levels must embody the principles of Adaptive Leadership, which will help them embrace possibilities and break through barriers to deliver creative solutions.
Desire for Excellence
The conference's workshops correspond to key areas for organizational excellence. Rising leaders will be compelled to translate ideas into meaningful solutions within their organizations. Scholarship applicants are asked to articulate how their participation in the conference would help them achieve organizational goals.
