Position Summary
Pay Grade: 5 Salary: $35,568 - $ 42,573.08 annually (Starting salary depends on education and experience) RESPONSIBILITIES: The 30 Days to Family Specialist is responsible for conducting a thorough search to identify safe and appropriate relative or kin supports and/or placement of child within the first 30 days of the child entering foster care. The Specialist will work closely with the foster care case manager and other members of the professional team to meet the standards of The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoption Act (2008). Key job duties include providing initial aggressive and exhaustive searches for a child’s non-custodial parents, grandparents & siblings, and a search for all of the child’s extended family and supportive adults. This position assists in collecting information through the use of a variety of tools and family finding search activities, including knowledge of how to engage relatives, extensive genogram development, interview techniques, internet and database searches, and case record reviews. The 30 Days to Family Specialist is also responsible for developing individualized plans for each child, completing initial home study for placement on identified relative and kin, and prepares child and family for placement. Additional responsibilities include maintaining communication with child’s team and completing follow-up contacts with families for program outcomes. QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other Human service field and at least three (3) years of work experience with children and families. The preferred candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board to practice in Kansas. Must pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
