Given the emergence of an interconnected and global society, building organizational capacity for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion is more critical than ever. Ensuring all people feel valued at work and contribute to inclusive workplace cultures is an important strategy for achieving a healthy, productive, and peaceful society in which all people can participate and reach their full potential.
During these 1.5-day workshops presented by the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and FEI Behavioral Health, participants will explore their relationships with equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in a safe environment and create EDI action plans for their organizations.
Because advancing EDI requires more than just basic knowledge and the will to improve, presenters will help participants understand their own biases as well as the role of historical discrimination, non-inclusive behavioral actions, and culture in creating an unjust society.
The workshop will include learning, facilitated discussion, and dedicated planning time. In addition to learning about core concepts, participants will put ideas into action with a hands-on, facilitated planning session.
Unlike many other trainings, participants will create and take home action plans for advancing their goals in EDI. As such, organizations encouraged to send their EDI working groups with their current EDI plans and challenges.

Foundations of EDI
This session will focus on defining equity, diversity, and inclusion elements, providing a historical perspective, reviewing benefits and challenges, and starting a plan.
Building an Organizational Culture of Inclusion and Equity
Participants will learn about best practices and proven approaches for advancing an organizational culture that supports EDI from leading organizations. In addition, participants will learn new frameworks for integrating cultural humility and culture change in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Putting the Pieces Together: Building an EDI Development Plan
This hands-on session will put learning and theory into action. Through a combination of small-group discussions and facilitated activities, participants will create action plans for advancing their individual goals in EDI. Teams of individuals working to advance EDI are encouraged to participate in this workshop together, including staff from the same organization, cross-organization collaborations, and community member teams.
