Generative Partnerships Will Help Us Reach Our Lofty Goals

It was exciting for Tracy Wareing Evans, president and CEO of APHSA, and me to work together on Joining Forces: Two National Organizations Strive to Model a Generative Partnership to Accelerate Their Shared Visions, an article published in this month’s Policy & Practice magazine, because it covers a topic near and dear to our hearts: generative partnerships.

It is a time of both opportunity and challenge in our nation, yet we know that public and private sector health and human services advocates share the goal to help people live their lives to their fullest potential. But to reach that honorable goal, all of us must lean into deeper, results-focused and “resource-generating” partnerships, i.e., generative partnerships.

Joining Forces: Two National Organizations Strive to Model a Generative Partnership to Accelerate Their Shared Visions defines generative partnerships, and makes the point that they will help us to realize more impactful outcomes by working generatively together. Our article includes the benefits of these partnerships, and the accelerants to make them successful.

And, the information we share is built upon our own experiences as two national associations who are striving to model a generative partnership with one another and from examples of what we have seen across the country.

What better way to learn more about generative partnerships than by attending the APHSA Health and Human Services Summit, in partnership with the Alliance, on April 30-May 3, 2017 in Baltimore.

This is where people from all sectors will interact and share knowledge about promoting more agile, solutions-oriented relationships. During this time of uncertainty and change in health and human services on all levels, it’s a proactive step towards meeting challenges head on and leading change. I hope to see you in Baltimore!
