Peter Goldberg Memorial Funds

The Alliance for Children and Families has established two memorial funds in the name of Peter Goldberg, former president and CEO.

They have been created to sustain Goldberg’s visionary leadership and carry on his passion for positive, transformative change within the human services industry.

• Peter B. Goldberg Intellectual Capital Seed Fund. Supports the exploration of innovative ideas and the development of projects designed to generate intellectual capital.
   
• Peter B. Goldberg Innovation Fund. This fund, within the Alliance’s endowment fund, uses current, planned, and deferred gifts to continue Goldberg’s innovative spirit in perpetuity.

Peter B. Goldberg

Goldberg was president and CEO for the Alliance until his unexpected death in August 2011.

He also served as president and CEO of the Alliance’s parent holding company, Families International. In this role, Goldberg oversaw a unique corporate structure that allows four organizations—the Alliance, FEI Behavioral Health, United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA), and Ways to Work—to operate under one parent company. This allows each organization to maintain financial independence, while encouraging collaboration and creating cost-savings through the pooling of resources.

Goldberg served as CEO of Ways to Work and UNCA.

Goldberg also was:

• Convening chair of Leadership 18, a group that consists of major national nonprofit human service organizations in the United States
• A fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration
• Immediate past chair of the board of The Children’s Institute in Portland, Ore.
• A board trustee of The Bridgespan Group
• Chair of the Listening Post Project Advisory Committee at the Center for Civil Society Studies at Johns Hopkins University

He served on numerous other nonprofit boards and was selected by The NonProfit Times as one of the 50 most influential people in the nonprofit sector nine times since 1998.

He graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a bachelor’s in political science.
